Welcome to Julian Matthews, visting professor from the University of Leicester

Dr. Julian Matthews lectures in the School of Media, Communication and Sociology at the University of Leicester, UK. His research interests focus on journalism, news making and the reporting of social problems and he is the author of Producing Serious News for Citizen Children: A Study of the BBC’s Children’s Programme, Newsround (Edwin Mellen Press, 2010) and the co-editor of The Cultural Intermediaries Reader (Sage, 2014). In addition to publishing on topics such as immigration, terrorism and environmental issues, he continues to convene the British Sociological Association Media Study Group and act as an editor for the international journal, Sociology Compass. His latest research examines the media reporting of energy issues.
