My research focuses on empirical and theoretical questions on global governance, regionalism and regionalisation that I link to the sub-national cross-border level. As Marie Curie fellow at PACTE I am working on the project CBC-ETHOS in order to theoretically elaborate an ethical humanist code of cross-border governance. This is done since my main objective is to better understand the ethical dimension of cross-border cooperation within Europe and the ways through which European ethical norms are operationalised, diffused and institutionalized through cross-border cooperation in cross-border regions. Before joining PACTE I worked in several universities in Europe as WIRL-COFUND post-doctoral fellow at the University of Warwick (IAS/PAIS) (UK), post-doctoral fellow at the University of Oulu (Finland), Marie Curie COFUND fellow at the Freiburg Institute of Advanced Studies (Germany), post-doc fellow at the KHK University Duisburg-Essen (Germany), post-doctoral fellow at the University of Luxembourg and Erasmus Mundus fellow at the Australian National University. I have recently co-authored a book on regionalism and cross-border cooperation, Region-Making and Cross-Border Cooperation: New Evidence from Four Continents (Routledge, 2018), a book based on my doctoral thesis, The Effects of Europeanization on the Integration Process in the Upper Adriatic Region (Springer, 2015) and several articles in the Journal of Common Market Studies, the European Urban and Regional Studies, Geopolitics, The Pacific Review.
